Kia ora, I'm Alex - I quit my building job to start the Women's Shed because I wanted to do something that brought more meaning and passion to my everyday life.
I have a background in Building, Landscaping, Youthwork, Firefighting & Teaching. All of which have provided me with the diverse range of skills in which to provide women with the opportunity to learn and build confidence on the tools!
A feminist from way back, I believe that women can do anything blokes can do - usually with a little more finesse!
Sharing my knowledge & skills has always been important to me and my passion for women to have equal opportunities has been the driving force in establishing the Women's Shed. If the desire and the drive is there, women can achieve ANYTHING.
